2025 Cinco de Mayo Lyons KS

20/03/2026

Fresh off a successful debut in 2024, the second annual Cinco de Mayo Lyons KS came back bigger and better. Attendance grew to approximately 550 to 625 guests — and Workman Park was feeling it. Director Abril Pando Rodriguez admitted things were getting tight, but the community made it work and the energy was unforgettable.

2025 also introduced an exciting new tradition: the crowning of the very first Reina de Cinco de Mayo — Queen of Cinco de Mayo Lyons KS. The inaugural queen competition brought a new layer of cultural pride and excitement to the event, with the community rallying passionately behind their candidates. We also featured a baby crawling contest and it was a big hit!

Once again, the Lyons Folkloric dancers dazzled the crowd with traditional Mexican dances choreographed by Abril. The parade drew approximately 100 participants, and the event featured food from approximately 18 vendors, live music, and cultural activities for the whole family. Approximately 15 sponsors made the celebration possible with their generous support.

With guests traveling from as far as Albuquerque NM, the 2025 celebration proved that Cinco de Mayo Lyons KS had grown into something far beyond a local gathering. It had become a regional tradition.

As Workman Park reached its limits, 2025 left everyone — including Abril — eagerly wondering what 2026 will bring. What started as one woman's determination to bring her community together has become one of the most anticipated celebrations in central Kansas.
